Given the growing importance of personalized medicine and precision medicine, research studies on omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, etc.) and bioinformatics are used for systematically analyzing big data on personal genetics and epigenetics for the investigation of causative mechanisms of diseases, early diagnosis, prognostic diagnosis, prediction of treatment reaction·effect, development of customized therapeutics, etc.

The Ajou University Medical Center founded the Ajou Translational Omics Center in September 2016 for the support of more systematic and processional omics research. The center aims to contribute to strengthening the omics research capacity of the Ajou University Medical Center by supporting professional consulting throughout the entire omic research process from research design to deriving results, providing technological support and analysis services, and conducting researcher training through omic-related symposiums and seminars with expert invitations.
